TBox Modular System transfers to 4G

Servelec Technologies is pleased to announce the release of a new communication card for the TBox Modular System (MS) remote telemetry unit, to enable the transfer of real time data across 4G/LTE networks.

Ensuring that TBox customers continue to receive the latest technology as standard, the new 4G GSM Modem with LTE/4G Penta Band will supersede the existing communication cards as the default option. Whilst significantly improving performance, this upgrade comes at no extra cost to the customer.

To ensure consistency of data transmission in remote areas, the new communication card comes with 3G/GPRS fall back capability so that 3G or GPRS networks can be utilised when no 4G signal is available. This allows the versatile system to provide full data network access to all customers of the TBox MS, whatever their requirements and connectivity.

The TBox MS from Servelec Technologies is a modular, secure and highly resilient automation platform for critical and demanding SCADA applications. With on-board web server technology eliminating the need for complex SCADA software and costly HMI displays, the TBox MS remote telemetry unit provides real-time remote access and control of your assets using the latest web server technology, which now includes this 4G network compatibility.

In order to facilitate the upgrade, Servelec Technologies’ High Performance Antenna, introduced in Autumn 2017, will become the default antenna and unique option for the MS and LT2/TG2 Modems. Competitively priced, this enhanced product is a 4G/3G/2G multiband 3dBi omnidirectional antenna with 2m low loss coaxial cable.

Kingfisher Plus now supports DNP3 file transfer

Servelec Technologies, a market-leading global provider of end-to-end telemetry products and systems, is pleased to announce that its market-leading Kingfisher Plus modular RTU platform has been enhanced and now supports secure DNP3 file transfer.

Users of the Kingfisher Plus’ CP-30 processor unit can now update the firmware and configuration of the CP-30 processor unit using third party SCADA or a DNP Master station by Ethernet or Serial port. Secure DNP3 file transfer provides the ability for customers to manage their entire RTU infrastructure securely.  RTU software updates and configuration held in SCADA can be deployed to an RTU using the same open protocol (DNP3) which is used for communications.

New Kingfisher Plus Firmware & Software

Servelec Technologies is pleased to announce the release of the latest Kingfisher CP-30 processor module update. The new firmware (version 4609) is available to download here. Please read on for more information about:

- New Kingfisher Plus CP-12 firmware

The latest improvements to the module include:

Web server:
Diagnostics are now available on the web server showing the system restart log, route changes, I/O module digital output and the ability to capture additional data in the event of a firmware problem.

DNP3 protocol handling:
Improvements have been made to the DNP3 protocol handling, by improving issues surrounding binary output commands, DNP3 class poll requests and adding a number of enhancements to performance.

Peer-to-peer communication:
Kingfisher RTUs support DNP3 peer-to-peer communication applications. This allows local communication between two DNP3 devices, so that in a scenario where SCADA is lost, the local Kingfisher RTU system will continue to function with no loss of events. An application note for DNP3 peer-to-peer communication can be found

File transfer:
RTU configuration or firmware can now be upgraded using DNP3 file transfer commands. Toolbox PLUS version 4.2.0 is required. Firmware version 4408 or later supports DNP3 file transfers. This feature allows users to upgrade firmware and configuration using third party SCADA software over Ethernet or serial interfaces.

TWinSoft is an easy-to-use and intuitive Windows application which is used to configure TBox remote telemetry units. The wizards, simple dialogue boxes and templates allow users to rapidly build their applications and dynamically control communication, alarms, data logging and logic, locally or remotely.

TWinSoft also includes WebForm Studio which allows users to create dynamic embedded HTML5 web pages using a graphical editor and limited software experience. The new features of TWinSoft include:

  • Security improvements resulting in TBox devices successfully passing the Achilles level 1 standard, including updated firewall features to prevent brute force, DoS and DDoS attacks. 
  • A HTTP web-service interface which allows the user to easily query TBox data.

Servelec Technologies, a market-leading global provider of end-to-end telemetry products and systems, has released the latest update for its feature-rich Kingfisher Plus modular automation platform for SCADA applications. The Kingfisher Plus remote telemetry unit (RTU) platform brings together advanced processing and software technology, IP connectivity, and open programming to remote measurement and control applications. Kingfisher Plus RTUs are used in the most intensive and demanding SCADA systems and critical infrastructure applications. This major update, titled Panther (firmware version 4408) is for the Kingfisher Plus CP-30 processor module and MC-31 communications module.

The new features include:

- New web server application - Field and remote diagnostics are now available without requiring installation of specific Toolbox Plus configuration software.

- DNP3 File Transfer – Allows remote, secure configuration of the RTU directly from an installed SCADA system.
